We're just a couple of minutes walk from the Bay in Tankerton, Whitstable where you can swim & fish from excellent safe beaches.
Watch the sailing boats compete from the local yacht clubs. From the 4 star Marine Hotel or the Royal Public House, look out to the Thames Estuary to see the Kentish Flats Wind Farm and Wartime Forts. The Forts were once home to Pirate Radio. Walk Tankerton slopes with its many beach huts, the promenade & the curious Street on the way to Whitstable Harbour to buy freshly landed fish, and try the World famous Whitstable Oyster. Whilst in town go indoor bowling, crown green bowling near Whitstable Castle. Try the indoor swimming pool or take a Boat Trip to see the sights of the Thames Estuary? Afterwards watch the sunset over splendid sea views as you sample local seafood from a specialist restaurant, or simply enjoy a quiet pint in a traditional ale house, lively pubs or perhaps some refreshments in the Harbour Garden Café overlooking Whitstable Harbour Take a stroll to Oxford Street at the other end of Whitstable to visit Deco5 the 30's styled wine bar.
Canterbury, the second most visited City in the Country is only 7 miles by road, or take the splendid 1830 disused old railway line route, once the track bed of the Worlds first passenger carrying railway service. It goes through picturesque historic woodland This is now the Crab & Winkle cycle path, part of the national cycle route.
Less than 5 miles away there's the historic town of Faversham, the creek base of many Thames Barges & home of the Countries oldest brewer
In the other direction there's Herne Bay with roller skating & family entertainment on the Grand Victorian Seafront.
Venturing further afield? London Victoria is 80 minutes by direct rail link from Chestfield & Swalecliffe station just 5 minutes walk away. Travel times have now been reduced with the introduction of the high speed rail link between London & Kent.
